Music Basketball

This is another game that I use for a center. I attach the basketball hoop at the top of my white board. I put a line on the ground so they knew where to shoot from.

There is one person who is the "teacher". The teacher keeps score but also holds up the rhythm cards.  The students take turns at the line. They have to clap and/or say the rhythm. If they say and clap the rhythm correctly the first time, then they get to shoot the ball twice. If they get it correct the second time trying then they can shoot once. Then they go to the back of the line and the next person goes. This is a small group activity. I am sure you can tweak it for a whole class activity but that would make the lines go very slowly.

I use the "ta ti-ti" cards with the younger kids and move up to the actual note notation for the older kids. I choose the cards to use accordingly to what I've taught that specific group.
